1 Ty was not "loaned" out, in
the technical sense of the word, to Universal for Mississippi Gambler. Rather, with two remaining films left on his contract, he had gotten permission from the studio to seek out roles, on his own, outside 20th Century-Fox. Mississippi Gambler was the first such role that he chose. He would finish up his 20th Century-Fox contract in 1955 by filming Untamed.
